The Kit Lake Solace

NOVEMBER 2022

It was a month of settling down on Kit Lake, my home water in central Florida’s largemouth bass country. Bright opportunities appeared from the gloom, on and off of Kit Lake.

Our share of the new winter stopped summer storms, and brought days of overcast skies, dense fog, and general gloom. Fishing success was found with sinking flies, like craft fur minnows. But keeping another rod rigged with a large popper rewarded anglers at times when patches of sunlight reached the water. Some of us were able to spend entire days on the water, and others were able to take evening hatch trips.

Throughout the month, water temperatures hinted at cooling into our winter pattern. But, they warmed late in the day.

So, we will wait for the colder water, and our new opportunities.
